Hey everybody,

Here’s this week’s report.

Financial Market Trends:

  • Markets relatively unchanged, though this was the busiest week of the year for earnings

  • Federal Reserve will not increase interest rates

  • OPEC urged members to comply with production cuts, oil rallied

  • US Dollar weakened against the Euro

  • Gold is up

  • August 1, 2017 Bitcoin will split into Bitcoin and Bitcoin cash, aka, the “Hard Fork”

    • This is causing Very High volatility in the cryptocurrency markets

    • Money is flowing from alternative coins (Ether, Ripple, etc) back into Bitcoin.

    • More explanation, Impact on overall Bitcoin value

    • I’m tempted to buy and additional $2k of XRP here at $0.16

Other News

  • The new Tesla model 3 was released, 310 mile range for $44,000

  • Did you remember to back up your pictures and files this year yet? Hard drives fail all the time. I just bought two 8TB Western Digital drives from Best Buy ($159 each). I have an old Synology NAS 212j, a 2 drive bay network storage device. In layman’s terms, it RAIDs (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) the drive for you, so you don’t have to worry about backing up your data. For example, pop in two identical 8TB hard drives into the NAS, and you will have 8TB of storage space, automatically backed up on the other hard drive. If one fails, just put in a drive of equal or greater storage size and you’re back in business.

Non-News but interesting
